St. Helens

Grenian Hydrogen is developing green hydrogen projects across the North West and North Wales.

Grenian Hydrogen St Helens will be located wholly on Pilkington UK’s Greengate Works site. The plant will produce ‘green’ hydrogen (from renewable electricity) using six 2.5MWe electrolysers located in twelve 40ft containers. The hydrogen will be used to replace fossil gas in Pilkington’s existing flat glass furnaces.

The development of the plant is subject to Grenian being successful in the Government’s second Hydrogen Allocation Round, for which the provisional outcome should be known by the end of 2024.

This project is under consultation.

We are running  a consultation from Monday 17th – Monday 24th June to hear local views on our proposed Grenian St. Helens project.

Join us in person at the World of Glass on June 18th (2-7pm).

If you would like to find out more about the project, please have a look at the information on the right-hand side to learn more.  We have also included maps of the proposed site.

We’d love to hear your feedback: submit your thoughts.

We are still keen to hear your thoughts about Grenian St. Helens.  You can get in touch by emailing us at: info@grenianhydrogen.live-website.com.

Following the consultation, we have put together a series of FAQs from questions we received.
